Leave, absence and illness

We understand that sometimes there are circumstances when you cannot be at school. Whether it’s illness, special leave or absence, we want to make it as easy as possible for you and your parents/carers to manage this properly. On this page, we explain how that works at Futuris.

Here’s how to arrange it!

Are you sick and unable to come to school? Then your parents/carers should inform school as soon as possible. We prefer to receive the message before 8.30 (but no later than 09.00), so that we know immediately that you will not be there that day. You can report sick via the Somtoday Pupil & Parent app or via the Somtoday Parents link.

Do you need time off from school for a special reason, such as a wedding, religious celebration or other special circumstances? Then your parents/carers can apply for leave for you. This must always be done well in advance and leave is only granted if it complies with the rules of the Compulsory Education Act.

We have a special form for requesting leave. Remember to clearly state the reason and desired leave period. Submit the form to your learning year coordinator.

Absenteeism

If you do not come to school without a valid reason, this is known as absenteeism. In the event of unauthorised absence, we will always contact your parents/carers to find out what is going on. If the absence continues, we must report it to the school attendance officer. It is important that you are always on time and present in lessons so that you do not fall behind.

  • Report sick on time if you cannot come to school.
  • Always seek permission for leave in advance.
  • Make sure you attend all your classes.
  • Do you have questions about leave, absence or calling in sick? If so, please contact your mentor.

Are you looking for information about Futuris? Chances are you’ll find it in the school guide. From the curriculum to school rules and all kinds of practical matters: you can read about it in the school guide.

Futuris ensures a safe learning environment by actively addressing bullying behaviour and appointing a confidential advisor to whom pupils can turn. There is a bullying protocol and the mentoring team plays an important role in identifying and resolving conflicts.

Mobile phones and tablets may only be used in lessons if the teacher gives permission, because they are used for an assignment or quiz, for example. Outside lessons, you may use them during breaks.

Futuris’ mission is to provide inspiring and pupil-centred education in a safe, stable and warm environment. We prepare pupils for a promising future by helping them discover and further develop their talents in a socially relevant context.

School days usually start at 08:30 and end between 14:30 and 15:30, depending on your timetable and any profile or practical classes. More information can be found in the lessons table.
